Say hello to our latest collaboration with Australian childrenswear brand Halcyon Nights.
Inspired by your most loved items at Melbourne Museum, this unique collection of baby wear, wall decals and children's sun hats feature the artwork of talented Melbourne-based illustrator Beci Orpin.
With cute and clever depictions of artefacts, prehistoric animals and other objects of scientific wonder such as Phar Lap and Horridus the Triceratops, this collection is sure to spark big imagination in curious young minds.
Meet some of the famous collection items on display at Melbourne Museum that inspired this special collaboration:
Phar Lap:
Meet Phar Lap. He's been part of the Museums Victoria collection for almost 90 years.
Born on 4 October 1926, this famous racehorse victoriously won 36 of 41 races between September 1929 and March 1932.
Phar Lap's most impressive wins include the AJC Derby, Victoria Derby, W.C. Cox Plate (twice), Futurity Stakes and the 1930 Melbourne Cup.
Horridus the Triceratops:
Say hello to Horridus, one of the most complete Triceratops skeletons in the world.
At least 267 of the known 313 bones of this roarsome Triceratops skeleton are present (85%) and nearly all of them are intact.
Blue Whale Skeleton:
Blue Whales are the largest animals to ever live, and they can occasionally be seen in Victoria's offshore waters.
This is the skeleton of a Blue Whale juvenile male stranded on a beach at Cathedral Rocks, near Lorne, Victoria, on 5 May 1992. It weighed 40 tonnes and was 18.7 metres long.
