Original illustration is a lithograph by W. E. Hitchcock after John Woodhouse Audubon, Printed and coloured by J. T. Bowen.

French American naturalist John James Audubon is famous for his magnificent ‘Birds of America’ series, however in his later life he focused on mammals. ‘The quadrupeds of North America’ was mainly illustrated by his son John Woodhouse Audubon.
